Frozen Margaritas

During the summer months, there are always some stray jars of margaritas kicking around in our freezer. They are great for pulling out for unexpected guests or for yourself when the margarita craving hits unexpectedly.  It is a great way to use up extra strawberries before they go bad as well. Just substitute the limeade for roughly 3 cups of strawberries (frozen can be used as well) and you have a delicious, strawberry margarita.

  • 1 (12 oz.) can frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1 cup (8 oz.) tequilla
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) triple sec (orange flavored liqueur)
  • juice of 2 limes (plus a lime for garnish)
  • 4-5 cups ice
  • kosher salt or margarita salt (it’s more coarse than table salt)

Blend everything together, pour into canning jars, seal and freeze. That’s it.

Tequila Buying Guide:

tequilaWe usually purchase El Jimador Tequila for our margaritas because it is 100% Agave Tequila and is one of our favourites available at our local liquor store. We also prefer the taste of the Reposado over the Silver, but that’s entirely up to you. Whenever a duty free gets passed through, it is always a treat to pick up a bottle of Leyenda del Milagro Tequila.

Here is an excellent Tequila/Agave guide to help you select a great sipping Tequila. Because we’re grown ups. Body shots are great, but for a fine Tequila, you want to savour it!
