Kelowna Wine Tour 2018

It was with great anticipation that we embarked on our 2018 Wine Tour. This was my third year participating in the birthday celebration for my cousin that began eight years ago. The rest of our group flew in from Calgary, AB and Houston, Texas on the Friday.

My husband and I began our holiday a week early with a visit with my wonderful in-laws. We spent a week in Penticton, BC before the wine tour and it was filled with relaxation and visiting a few wineries and a farmer’s market on the Naramata Bench. R-Dolly and husband joined up with us on Thursday afternoon and took us to a Paint Nite at the Kelowna Yacht Club that evening. There were mixed feelings about our finished paintings but the consensus was that R-Dolly’s husband was the evening’s Picasso.

On Friday, I had to skip out on the Walking Wine Tour because of my broken ankle. The four of us ended up finding a table in the beer gardens at the Kelowna Ribfest 2018 to people watch, drink some local beer/wine and gorge on delicious food truck food and BBQ ribs . I had an early night with the romantic, amorous attention of an ice pack on my ankle in hopes of successfully being able to survive getting on and off the tour bus the next day.

Wine Tour day began bright and early. Birds were singing, the sky was smoke-filled due to the wildfires raging throughout BC and the excitement was palpable. We had a quick breakfast and then headed to meet up with the rest of our posse. We made our mimosas, camouflaged them in our reusable Starbucks coffee cups and headed out.

Our wine tour was with Distinctly Kelowna Wine Tours. We highly recommend them because of their excellent service and very knowledgeable and entertaining drivers. We departed at 10:30 am.

Our lunch stop was a food truck stationed at Off the Grid Winery. The Round and Sharp food truck has a plant-based menu and has vegan options for their menu items. It was a nice fresh tasting lunch and the blackberry ketchup was a delicious addition to the regular ketchup served with their freshly made french fries. R-Dolly purchased some of the blackberry ketchup to try on some BBQ burgers at home.

We continued through the rest of the tour and then ended the day with dinner at JOEY Kelowna Restaurant. It was another wonderful wine tour weekend with friends and family that refreshed our blackened souls for another year.

Our weekend inspired our Top 10 Food Truck Items to TRY at Home.
